Jersey Shore‘s Sammi Sweetheart Shares “Devastating” Miscarriage Before Justin May Engagement
Jersey Shore’s Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola opened up about a miscarriage she and fiancé Justin May experienced just before he proposed to her.
Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola has the perfect partner by her side.
The Nov. 21 episode of Jersey Shore Family Vacation chronicled the 37-year-old’s engagement to fiancé Justin May, however it was a time full of both happy and heart-rending moments, as the couple learned they were no longer pregnant after a failed round of in vitro fertilization (IVF) just before Justin popped the question.
As she explained in a confessional, Sammi had become pregnant, however the embryo ultimately didn’t take, causing a miscarriage.
“This has been a very long process, it’s been a lot of shots, it’s been a lot of hormones,” she tearfully told the camera. “Just the thought of even being pregnant was such a magical moment for me, and just to have that taken away—it’s devastating for me.”
Yet Justin was the perfect support system, Sammi revealed, willing to take a break from the fertility treatments for as long as she wanted.
“He’s so positive and uplifting,” she added in her confessional. “He’s so special to me, and I just am so thankful for him. He’s been by my side through this whole thing. I just love him.”
And that same night, as Justin took Sammi out to a birthday dinner, there was more to the occasion than met the eye. As he surprised her with her family and friends, Justin also got down on one knee and asked the reality TV star to marry him.
“I am just like, in awe,” Sammi said of her reaction in a subsequent confessional. “I’ve dreamt of this moment my entire life.”
“I feel like the luckiest girl in the world,” she continued. “Justin coming into my life made my life a million times better. He is just everything I could ever ask for in a man. He’s patient. He’s support and I just love and adore him so much.”
And this is not the first time Sammi has raved over her forever partner, whom she dated for over two years before becoming engaged.
As she told E! News in November of her IVF journey, “Me and Justin are actually going through this together, and he is so supportive through the whole thing. He’s very positive. He keeps me going and he couldn’t be a better partner with this all. He’s just amazing.”
And prior to that, she shared a brief update in October on what the couple’s future might hold on their fertility journey.
“I feel good. IVF is a process,” she told E! News at the New York City premiere of her costar Jenni “JWoww” Farley’s directorial debut Devon. “It’s a journey and it’s a long road, but I’m just dealing with it and whatever happens next will happen.”
